    set it up as a ratio. 1 minute(for one mile at 60 mph)/60 mph = x minute(for one mile at 55mph)/55 mph.
it basically ends up as 60/55 which is equal to roughly 1.09 minutes per mile at 55 mph.

A little less than one mile per minute – after all, if you were traveling at 60 mph, you would travel 60 miles in 1 hour, or 60 miles in 60 minutes, or 1 mile per minute.

traveling at 55 would be just a bit slower than that.

To be exact – 55 miles in 60 minutes = 27.5 miles in 30 minutes, or 2.75 miles in 3 minutes, or 0.91666 miles in 1 minute.

That’s miles per minute – the previous answerer calculated minutes per mile, which is different.

Miles traveled at 55 MPH is 0.91666666

At constant speed of 55 MPH …. it takes 65.45454546 seconds or 1 min. 5.45454546 seconds to travel one mile.

really? this is like elementary math. I think everyone should know that there are 60 minutes in an hour, so if you’re going 55 miles in one hour isnt the answer pretty obvious???
