Most crates go by the dog/puppy’s weight. Check your local pet stores and see what they have online about the right fit for the pup;

buy an extra large with a kennel divider.

Despite what you think, puppies do not go inside their crate, because its where they stay. I had an avid peer, and he would not go in the crate because that is where he stayed. When you purchased him, the humane society, store etc. should have given you info on his size, and crate suggestions. I would stongly suggest you call them and ask about crate sizes, because most crates are labled from small-large and some have ” insertable adjustable gate” type contraptions that could benefit him. I would get a large wire one that has a divider in it. The divider can be moved as the dog gets older. You only buy 1 crate and it grows with your dog. They are fairly easy to move and fold flat.

This one would be the kind that would work. The brand doesn’t really matter, just get one large enough for your dog when he is full grown.

If you are using it for training, you want to keep it around for more than 2 months. Consistency is key and it’s best to keep the same crate for at least the first year and a half.

Wire crates are easier to clean in the event of an accident and are excellent for housebreaking.
