Sinterklaas is from mid November to 5dec, but you wont notice much about it.
In Amsterdam its always crowded with tourists so it doesn’ t really matter when you visit.

Well Sinterklaas is a family thing that is mainly celebrated indoors. Apart from the arrival of the holy man in Amsterdam which is a public event: this year he will arrive on Sunday, November 13.

Generally November is not the most popular time of year in Amsterdam. Christmas shopping starts after 5 December in the Netherlands.

I went mid-November one year. I’ve actually visited in every season now except summer!
Some of the small suburbs of Amsterdam (easily within the distance from the trams) have Christmas markets that are fun and interesting. You can find all kinds of interesting arts and crafts there.
On the Leidseplein (one of the major squares) they put up an ice skating rink.
The whole city is magical regardless of the time of year to go.
Expect it to be cold and damp, but if you layer your clothes and have a decent water proof coat, you’ll be okay.
If you want crowds, visit the sites and coffee shops around the Dam and visit the Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank House.
If you prefer it less crowded, visit the area around Vondelpark and the Van Gogh house.
Make sure you get the I (heart) Amsterdam card for travel and reduced museum fees. You can purchase them directly across from the main train station and you choose from 24, 48 or 72 hours. It’s WELL worth the price since you can travel ANYWHERE that the Amsterdam public transport goes.
